Addiction and Recovery

"I understood myself only after I destroyed myself.

And only in the process of recovery, did I know who I really was."

There are different levels of addiction and each individual will determine initially

their own relationship with the energies of addiction they are most drawn to...

according to needs and sensitivity, trauma and emotional pain.

We draw to us the energies we need to work with in our life experiences,

for our learning and evolving through life.

We do not consciously decide the process of experience we enter into

      by connecting to our addiction.

I believe addiction does not discriminate.

We are all unique and individuals on our journey in this life.

Addiction and addictive behaviours

To understand that addiction and addictive behaviours can effect anyone,

regardless of the level of their traumatic past experiences and background,

is vital in helping us in our recovery.

We cannot compare ourselves to others in their experience of addiction,

the understanding is there are more similarities than differences ...

As each addict arrives at their own degree of pain and behaviour.

We usually reach a place of having lost everything or something that was

just too precious to lose ...

so our connection seems to come from our pain to our heart.

I feel that no matter how far we are in the process of our addiction,

we have within ourselves ... our soul ... and their lay our hope ...

The child within that yearns to be saved, nurtured and loved

we need to connect to our 'Will' to find the strength

~ a spark of light in that moment to say ~ 'Enough' ~ 'No' ~

The decision to give ourselves a voice of choice to seek a way forward ...

acknowledgement of hope that touches us to the deepest core of ourselves

only then do we begin the journey of gradual recovery.

There are many pathways to recovery and some more appropriate than others.

The choices depend on the levels of addiction severity...

Health, emotional needs, psychological stress and social support...

It is common for people to fluctuate between states dynamically.

Addictive compulsive behaviours and addiction often lead into each other...

Substance and Alcohol Abuse
Sex and Love Addiction
Co-Dependence
Eating Disorders
Digital Abuse
Gambling
Work
Exercise
Shopping

The list is non exhaustive.

A Rehab treatment, 12 Step Programme,12 Step Buddhist Programme,

Al-Anon, Natural Recovery, Mutual Help ...

The process is all part of finding yourself and establishing you.

The realisations that we discover as we begin the journey are quite incredible...

We learn about the need to embrace our truths, to know we have reached a place

of feeling powerless over our addiction and cannot control the compulsion we have.

Needing to recognise the necessity of your own choice of a higher power

can give strength in helping to end suffering.

Learning the skills and tools to help you to move forward into a life of choice ...

~ To feel safe in learning how to understand and speak of our trauma and emotional pain

~ To recognise our grief of the losses we have suffered as a result of addiction

~ To be able to communicate with those that we know we love

and yet we are unable to feel that love we have for them within ourselves,

as a result of the trauma of our past and our own behaviour through our addiction

~ To find our self confidence, self trust and self belief ...

These are a few of the new beginnings that unfold in the process of recovery...

The importance of feeling supported on all levels and that we feel safe

within the process is of great importance.

I am able to work alongside you and help you to discover Yourself at the deepest core of you.

To understand all you need to know of your experiences, emotions and pain ...

that you may learn gradually how to heal yourself  and the child within, to breathe,

to communicate and know how to speak with the truth of your heart and mind,

to feel part of whatever you choose.

"I went to see Jane at a time in my life where I had lost all sense of  who I truly was.

I didn't know how to change the cycle of my repeated behaviour

that resulted in much emotional pain and a serious eating disorder.

As a result of working with Jane, I started to learn how to let go of the past

and change the present so that I could start to learn who I was again.

This meant starting from scratch in most areas of my life

as we worked together to build a life that was free,

that I found genuine pleasure in and that reflected my true self.

Jane works with kindness, wisdom and insight and

it isn't an exaggeration to say that I owe my life to her"
